The We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution elementary text features critical thinking exercises, problem solving activities, and cooperative learning techniques that help develop intellectual and participatory skills. This curriculum increases students' understanding of the institutions of American constitutional democracy and fosters attitudes that students need in order to participate as effective, responsible citizens. The culminating activity, a simulated congressional hearing, provides every student the opportunity to demonstrate the depth of their understanding of the principles and practices of representative democracy.
