Jan 2006 Editor's Letter

I'll never forget the moment in high school when I discovered the Bible verse that would change my life forever. I was wrestling with what to do with my post-high-school life, struggling between what I wanted to do (write) and what I thought I should do (follow my father's footsteps and go to law school), when I came across this verse that clinched the deal.
It was Revelations 1:19: "Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this."
I'm sure it wasn't my first meeting with that verse, but in that critical time, it spoke to me and gave me the permission, so to speak, to pursue what was in my heart. I've never looked back. And, today, I have the opportunity to write and edit for, best of all, a Christian magazine.
As you and your faculty guide your students, remember that just one verse, one critical piece of communication, can change a child's life forever, charting their particular course in life.
We focus on curriculum in this issue, providing some guidelines on how to evaluate and choose everything from general curriculum to more specific types, including science, math and computer. One common point in these articles is to involve your teachers. They can provide valuable input during the evaluation process, and as they'll be the ones implementing and using the curriculum in the classroom every day, they should be as involved as possible, and as early on as possible, during selection. I'm always interested in hearing from you.
